At 61, Yazmeenah Rossi, a popular European model looks like she drinks from the fountain of youth, but her radiant skin stays wrinkle-free with the help of one everyday item which only costs a few pounds.
Contrary to what you might think, there’s not a lavish moisturizer or regimented cleansing routine behind her line-free face. In fact, Yazmeenah’s biggest age-defying product is something that everyone has in their kitchen – but most wouldn’t dream of smearing it on their skin.
The stunning senior’s secret beauty hack is rubbing olive oil on her face and running rapeseed oil through her silver locks. On top of that, she concocts a homemade exfoliate from olive oil and fine sugar which she uses a scrub once a week. She says, “There are no beauty products I couldn’t live without as I can always find what I need anywhere. My basics are in the kitchen cabinet, but I also use some extra luxuries like various precious oils.”
Born in France in 1955 and raised on the island of Corsica, Yazemeenah explained that her laid back Mediterranean upbringing has helped her to capture the essence of youth. She said: “I come from a very simple background where we used olive oil to cook with. Olive oil was used on our hair and skin – nothing else. My father’s mother died at 96-years-old, fit like a ballet dancer, and she never put anything on her skin. My mother’s sister, who is still alive, has better skin at 90 than she did some years ago. She discovered recently that her skin improved amazingly after she stopped putting anything on it while she was in hospital.
Yazmeenah adds: “The media makes us believe that we need this or that to have a great skin so that products can be sold. They will never say that in fact the skin has an ability to produce it’s own protection from the inside. If we put things on the surface of the skin, it becomes ‘lazy’ in a way and doesn’t work to protect itself anymore.”
Yazemeenah, who eats one avocado a day, also stressed how important it is to chow down on a clean and nutrient-rich diet. She says “The best thing for the skin is to eat enough healthy fats on a daily basis and to oxygenate well while exercising. Walking and sweating are great for your skin because it’s our biggest breathing organ.”
The French stunner has been chowing down on organic food for years now – even before it became hip. Yazmeenah continues: “I don’t practice frustrating diets. Balance and discipline are the keys. “I never eat processed, frozen, microwaved or low-fat foods. “Most of the time I eat organic food and I cook it fresh every day. I eat mostly vegetables, fruits, nuts and some good-quality fish and meats.”
And for anybody else who’s hoping to defy the ageing process, Yazmeenah shares her best words of wisdom. “It won’t happen in a day, it requires discipline and dedication,” she adds. “You need a healthy spirit and a curious mind.”
